You have arrived to my personal Radio Control Site. Here you will find info about some of the stuff we are messing with. I enjoy doing this with my son, Jarrett Allard. I also have some car/truck and we will post some past and present projects. And other good stuff. Keep checking in as this stuff will be added to periodically.

Radio Control

What does it mean?

The artform, hobby, sport known as RC is a very broad term for all the different aspects of the hobby. It can be broken down into the different catagories or avenues of the sport. For example, There are RC cars, trucks, airplanes, boats, helicopters etc. There are further catagories like, Elecectric, gas, glow. Then different off shoots of all these. Like scale modeling, building , designing.

Model airplanes have been in my family for as long as I can remember. My father built model airplanes before and after I was born.  He got into radio control airplanes when it was in its infancy. In the "old" days, there was very little RC equipment available. And the ones that were available, were out of reach, price wise. Also, in the "old" days people built there own electronics. Every neighborhood had its electronics expert that built stuff. Anyways, there were companies like HeathKit who were offering proportional radio transmitter and receiver and servos. THESE WERE KITS. You had to build them. It took weeks. Well my father did that so he could fly his model airplanes. He became the first one in our county to fly these things. He started a group and they had a flying field on US10-31 between Ludington and Scottvile. Then he started an official group. A club called the Twisted Sticks Flying Club.
